Do VA Loans Require a Down Payment?
No, the VA loans allow zero down financing. Prior to the real estate for housing crisis in 2007 there were numerous home loan programs that allowed 100% financing or no money down loans. Today, eligible military personnel and veterans are the only segment of the population who can purchase homes with no money down. Though VA loans do not require a down payment there is no additional need for PMI or private mortgage insurance.
